About Me — Larry Whitfield

My name is Larry Whitfield, and for more than 30 years I’ve dedicated my life to teaching the game of golf and using it to build confidence, character, and opportunities for young people. I started teaching in 1995 with one goal in mind: to make golf accessible, enjoyable, and meaningful for every student who steps onto the course.

From 2008 to 2020, I served as a Golf Coach and Golf Consultant for St. Philips College. During those 12 years, I coached college athletes as well as daycare students each summer, helping young players discover the joy and discipline of the game. I also helped the college raise over $1.7 million through ten scholarship golf tournaments — something I’m deeply proud of because it directly supported students and their futures.

In 2011, I earned my Level III Certified Golf Teaching Professional credential, and in 2017 I achieved the Master Teaching Professional designation from the United States Golf Teachers Federation (USGTF). These certifications reflect my commitment to excellence and continuous growth as an instructor.

For the past five years, I’ve also worked at the PGA Tour Superstore as a Golf Club Fitter, helping players find the right equipment to match their swing and elevate their performance. Combining professional club fitting with decades of teaching allows me to give every student a complete, personalized golf experience.

Today, I continue to pour my passion into developing junior golfers, supporting families, and building programs that inspire growth both on and off the course. Golf has given me so much — and I’m committed to passing that forward to the next generation.
